Man: A Creature Controlled By Images and Pictures
The Lord once said something to me along this line. He said, “Man is my creature, my handiwork that is activated or pushed into action through pictures, images, impressions, witnesses and ‘knowings.’
For short, I love to say it this way: Man is a creature activated or controlled by images and pictures.
These images and pictures can either be physical or spiritual. The bottom line is this: before a man can act or take a WALK in the natural, he must have SEEN the picture of his intention within or without himself.
If you give a man an instruction to do something, he will never act until your instruction is painted or interpreted on his mind in the form of pictures and images. Do you get what I’m saying?
While growing up, my siblings and I stayed with our aunts regularly because my mother gained admission into the University after she had her fourth child. I am the second of five boys of my parents. My dad worked in another town entirely and came home only on weekends.
A Night of ‘Horror’!
On a particular night when both of my parents were away from home, I slept in my aunt’s room, and in the dead of the night, we were awakened by a noise that was similar to the shuffling of feet.
I was dead scared where I laid, but my aunt shouted, “If you know that you are bold enough, come in; even though I’m a woman, I’ll show you that I still have power.” This continued for a long time, and eventually, when the noise subsided, she summed up courage and went to investigate; only for her to realize that the ‘culprit’ was a window’s hook!
The scenario that played out that night was a good illustration that established the truth that what a person hears can make them SEE something—by creating pictures, images and impressions on their minds.
In the case involving my aunt and some of my siblings that fateful night, the sound we heard created an image of threat and danger within us; and that image was so real such that my aunt kept SAYING something based on the picture the sound painted on her mind.
This is the reason any time you are so afraid, you believe so strongly in failure and negative things of which you end up becoming a victim. I don’t believe in failure, so I don’t talk about it.
Even if I only have five members in my church as a pastor, I’ll keep saying that I’m one of the best Pastors in town. Why? It’s because, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will SAY what you believe to your situation.
Also, a spiritual or physical witness is one way in which God created man to SEE things. A witness casts an image, picture or a ‘knowing’ that can give you a leading, which means that when you have a witness, you see or sense something, and you can change your direction.
For instance, if someone touches your cheek while your eyes are closed, the touch will give you a witness sort of, that something is happening, even without opening your eyes, because you can feel or perceive something.
You can now understand the experience believers have when they are led through the witness of the Holy Spirit. The Bible says, in Romans 8:14, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
And how does the Spirit lead God’s children? We have the answer right in verse 16 of this same passage: “The Spirit itself beareth WITNESS with our spirit, that we are the children of God” So faith can operate as a witness, a knowing or as a picture painted within you by God’s Word. Based on the principle of Jesus, no man can DO anything or WALK except he sees it first.
Here is the eternal truth I want to get across to you: If faith initiates an action or a WALK, then faith has to do with something a man SEES.
In other words, if faith has something to do with a WALK, then faith must have something to do with SEEING because according to Jesus’ statement in Matthew 6:22, a man cannot WALK, act or say anything, until he sees something.
When the Bible says in 2Corinthians 5:7 that, “…we walk by faith, not by sight” here is what it means: What SIGHT is to the physical man, FAITH is to the spiritual man. When we walk by faith, we just don’t walk by what we see physically, but we still walk by what we SEE with the eyes of the spirit!
This is why Apostle Paul was inspired by the Spirit of God to write:
2 CORINTHIANS 4:18
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Just as the physical man must see something before he WALKS in the physical, a believer must also SEE something with the eye of the spirit before he can WALK by faith.
Take a case in point: imagine yourself being welcomed into a friend’s house. As soon as you enter the house, your friend asks you to take your seat when there are no seats within your view. What would you do? You would be inactive, simply because you do not SEE any chair on which to sit.
Even though your friend consistently tells you to sit, as long as you can’t SEE a chair by yourself, there will be no ACTION on your part; do you get the point? This reiterates the point that a man must SEE before he acts or WALKS.
Now, since I WALK by faith and not by sight, it means there has to be something I SEE with the eye of the spirit that is overwhelming and more real than what I sight in the natural!
Faith Makes You See the
Reality of the Spirit World
Based on this knowledge, I am certain that I can never die of any sickness or disease, because the healing power of God that I see in my spirit is far greater and more real than sicknesses and diseases, regardless of how they hover around.
When Dr. David Oyedepo started declaring years gone by that he could never be poor, many people thought he was merely blabbing. Now, the man’s organisation has successfully championed the establishment of two universities Covenant and Landmark Universities. All these became possible because he SAW it by faith years before it ever took place!
God is no respecter of persons. If you can also SEE it, you can WALK in it and you can HAVE it; glory to God!
